Pastor Young grew up in Kentucky and Ohio. He graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University (B.A.) and Northwest Nazarene University (M.A.).
He began his ministry in 2000 serving churches in Ohio, Kentucky, Alaska and California. After 12 years of pastoral ministry, Pastor Young and his wife Cheryl, also an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene, began serving in cross-cultural ministry as missionaries. They served 13 years in Southeast Asia, first in a Creative Access Area working with the underground church and then in Indonesia and Timo-Leste training pastors and leaders, as well as developing districts.
In 2024, Pastor Young and his wife Cheryl transitioned back to the United States where they served as co-lead pastors in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Pastor Young also served as the Intercultural Ministries Director for the Michigan District Church of the Nazarene, assisting churches in developing and maximizing their capacity to effectively minister among the diverse peoples in their communities.
He has served the Marseilles Church of the Nazarene since April 2026.
Pastor Young and his wife Cheryl have three adult children: Jonathan, Hannah (and her husband Ben), and Becky.
